It is Monday.
So, after a weekend that was, more often than not, involved in steam-cleaning, and re-steam cleaning, carpets in the never-ending fight against six beloved pets’ worth of constant carpet abuse, Big Kitty walks over to one wall and yaks all down it, into said carpet. Then he staggers back a little, and hurls, a second time, directly into said carpet. The until-then so-much-cleaner said carpet.
On the plus side: My also-beloved wife did not hit and/or leave me when she acted her usual morning nice toward me, and I responded by biting her head off, as might happen after a Big Kitty yacks into your clean carpet.
Indeed, it is Monday. And yet. I am, despite myself, somehow, unstruck, and undivorced. Hallelujah.

Yes.. they don’t appreciate anything too clean (that must be remedied immediately), and they always know when company is coming (must leave unpleasant surprises).. it’s an unwritten law amongst the cat people.
