The late, great, exquisitely broken Townes Van Zandt said that, in a song, and what a damn song. And he sure as hell knew one end of dark from the other. I interviewed him once, back in my other lifetime working in newspapers, and he cried as he spoke, nearly from start to finish, his voice quivering like a jello cube.
He could have used a bit more shine, a lot less dark. As I know could I. As maybe could you.
Still, what a song.
So go, shine. Shine on, shine.
